Bob,
If you can find a junker "All American 5" AC-DC receiver, just about all of 
them use a 500K audio taper and all have a switch.

You should be able to get a replacement at "Antique Electronic Supply" 
without a problem, if you can't find a junk AC-DC tube radio.
