I had the same problem as you are trying to solve.  I finally gave 
up on the 3/8 bushing and ordered that one that Mouser has.  I 
forget the size but it was a bit small and came with a washer to 
cover the hole.  Once everything was in place and tightened, I 
didn't have a problem.
