Carl has it right.  You might also check for a dimmer somewhere in the
house.  These things really mess up the waveform and with that mess up AM
reception.

I have the same problem brought on by a clock radio set to AM in a house
with steel siding causing weak reception.  In the morning, I have a fair
buzz until I turn on the bathroom lights.  Noise gone.

I haven't yet found my offender either.  All radios of merit are connected
to outside antennas, providing strong signals, so it hasn't been a priority.
