[Boatanchors] Wanted - Cross-Needle Daiwa Type Meter

Hi Folks,
I've recently purchased a Johnson Kilowatt Matchbox into which someone
has installed the meter and line section from (it looks like) an old
Heathkit AM-2 SWR meter. As most everyone knows, these meters measure
relative power and relative SWR, subject to line section design,
component tolerances, etc., rather than true forward/reflected power.
I would like to replace this meter and line section with a cross-needle
type meter and true wattmeter line section like Daiwa and MFJ use in
their wattmeters. I have done some serious searching online, but I
haven't found any cross-needle wattmeters which appear to be good
candidates for cannibalizing the cross-needle meter and wattmeter unit.
The meter movements in the Daiwa and MFJ wattmeters all appear to be
integrated into the case of the unit. I need to find a cross-needle
meter I can remove from the wattmeter housing and install on the front
panel of the Johnson Matchbox, and then install the line section in a
shield box inside the Matchbox cabinet. The Daiwa 620 and 720 meters
appear to be the best choices based upon the way the meter movement
appears to be attached to the wattmeter housing, although I haven't
looked inside the housing to see what would be involved in removing the
wattmeter/line section unit and installing it into a shield box.
Can anyone out there give me some tips as to which cross-needle
wattmeter I should be looking for as a source for my scrounging
activities? If you have a wattmeter which looks like it would be
relatively easy to remove the meter and the wattmeter section and
transplant it into a Matchbox housing, let me know the make and model
and I'll start watching for one to show up.
I suppose I could just remove the meter and line section from a cheap
Heathkit wattmeter and install it in the Matchbox, but I love the
cross-needle meter in my MFJ Differential-T transmatch and I'm spoiled.
Thanks!
Mike, WB0LDJ
