[Boatanchors] Ceramic disk caps

I believe that OJ's started on the R-390 reflector back in the early
90's. Some self styled guru declared that they had to be used and the
myth developed a life of its own. I used discs in most places on my
R-390A and it hasnt needed service in over 20 years.

OJ's = wasted money and a continuation of the myth..

It does matter! You are still dealing with r.f.

In the audio circuits for coupling (i.e. the 12AX7 and 6DE7) use orange
drops or similar where the paper type capacitors were before. You can
use disc ceramics for the bypass capacitors in the audio circuits as
well.

Besides being better for r.f. disc ceramic capacitors are MUCH cheaper
than orange drops, etc.

My question about the disc caps came up because I am rebuilding several
DX-35 and DX-40 rigs.

I understand that discs are better for bypassing in RF circuits because
of their lower inductance, but in a circuits like the DX-35/40 does it
really make THAT much difference?
