Hi Lee,
The HT-40 was my novice transmitter, and I guarantee you that's how I
tuned it up ;-) I figured every smidgen of increased power output would
insure my signal would be heard in that many more distant locations!
And living 50 miles from an FCC Monitoring Station, I did watch my Ps
and Qs, but always got great signal reports and no QSLs from Grand
Island. And with my favorite tube in the final (6DQ5) you won't have
much to worry about if the plate current happens to be a tad high at
maximum output.
