Duane's comments aside (and I am not disagreeing with him), why is it that
people who for whatever reason hate eBay have to deliberately mispell it
whenever they mention it? I happen to thoroughly despise the former Soviet
Union, Japanese Empire, Caliphate, Napoleon Bonaparte, Democratic Party, Labour
Party and Nazi Germany (all for similar reasons). But if I have occasion
to mention them I don't deliberately mispell them.
Second, if you want to post an eBay item that might be of interest to the
list you are posting to, just post the item number. Anyone interested will
know what to do with it. It takes up much less space than the full URL or
the stupid tiny URL. It doesn't require starting the browser again. Much
quicker. 2 seconds max. And easier to ignore by anyone not interested.
Third, the description in the ad is about 2/3 wrong. SCR-624-(*) is a
ground set used at advanced fighter bases on the continent for the two weeks it
typically took to build up the AAA, secure the area and bring in the big
trailers with the BC-639's and BC-640's. The radio receiver-transmitter used
in the SCR-624 is the same as the one used in SCR-522 and SCR-542 (and
commonly referred to by the technically impaired as "the" SCR-522). Except for
connectors, nothing else in SCR-624 is common to either SCR-522 or SCR-542.
The set was certainly never installed and used in aircraft. It weighs 786
pounds.
Finally, $1125 is probably about going market for approximately one-half of
a complete NOS SCR-624-B. The last one I sold about six years ago went for
$800. And the two before that for almost as much. They were nice but not
NOS. And prices have definitely gone up since the January disaster.
