Mike -

I've never seen a manual or even a schematic for the CD version. A
couple of the Manual sellers advertise a manual, but since I've never
actually seen a CD version "in the flesh", I never cared enough to pay
for a manual! I have the manual for my standard one. I know the CD
version has PTT with a two pin mic connector, and is "General
Coverage". Seems like it may have had some sort of speech processing in
it, but not sure.

The Viking II coverage is specified as

1.8 - 2.4 Mc
2.9 - 4.4 Mc.
5.2 - 8.0 Mc.
9.8 - 15.0 Mc.
15.0 - 21.8 Mc.
21.0 - 30.0 Mc.

So there are a couple of holes in the coverage of the standard model.
It does cover all Amateur frequencies except the SSB only "channels"
around 5 MHz, so not sure if that matters. The Roller Inductor and
Plate Tuning cap are ganged together in the standard version, so that
may be why it's not total coverage. May be as simple as
more/different coil taps on the Buffer and Driver Bandswitch, and the
Final IS full coverage.
