Hi to all. I am restoring yet another tube type boatanchor. I tested
all the tubes and one is dead as a hammer. It's a 6BM8. I searched
through my collection, but no luck.
I then went on ePay, er, eBay and there is a LOT of them listed.
However, being an 'audio' tube, they are rather high $.
There seems to be a LOT of Russian tubes listed for a reasonable price,
even including shipping. I checked Antique Electronics Supply, and sure
enough, they are high there also. I have bought lots of tubes from AES
and been very happy!
OK, I'm not THAT cheap, but since I need one, my usual procedure is to
order a couple, just to have a spare or two.
I'm going to search other sources tonight, but my question for the
group is this:
Since it's 'just' and audio tube, have any of you had good luck with
the imported tubes???? I really don't want to invest 3X the price of
the radio in a couple of spare tubes. ha ha
thanks!
