Which circles back around to what I originally said about using it as
intended, some folks thinking that if a little bit works well, a lot
must work even better.

I've had good luck with it in small amounts, though sometimes in takes
repeated applications to restore a truly cruddy switch that has been
idle a long time. There are other tricks too, like flushing with
WD-40, to help things along. But just as I don't see WD-40 as a
'lubricant', I don't see DeOx-it or anything else as the silver bullet
solution to everything.

My understanding is that DeOxit is basically a diluted version of
Cramolin, used for decades in the broadcast industry for such things.
Caig used to sell D5 in bottles which, IIRC, was a stronger solution
than the spray (and also more expensive). They also offered swabs. No
idea what's still available, but whatever version - it's yet another
resource available in the battle to keep the old gear working. Of
course, knowing how to use it properly does help.
