Hi Bob,
The most common style of "locking potentiometers" is to split the threaded
collar, then the mounting nut is tightened around the collar beyond the
split, and a special nut with a smaller diameter on one side is threaded
over the spit and tightened to lock.
I have several Allen Bradley type "J" split collar pots with slotted, short
shafts,

Does anyone remember the "locking mechanism" used on potentiometers?  
You would take the knob off and screw on a locking mechanism that would hold
the setting.  It was for NORMAL size pots. 

Well, I need one or actually two, for my adjustable power supply.  I keep
accidentally hitting the settings.
