[Boatanchors] HRO COIL

I have an "A" coil which refuses to work in my receiver even though it is
properly marked (ie-it is not for an RAS). Inspection indicates that
everything is stock; the only thing I noticed is that the oscillator coil is
for a standard broadband coverage coil while the others are for a bandspread
coil. All other coils from BC to 30 mhz work fine, so the problem is the
coil.

I recently read a service bulletin from National which indicates that coils
manufactured for radios with glass tubes are different from those
manufactured for metal tubes! The fact that the coil described above
refuses to work (I get a very weak oscillation, mixer and RF will not tune)
sure makes me wonder if...... Anyone know anything about this statement
from National or can offer a suggestion about this coil?
