Hi:
A couple of days ago I asked the reflector members help in fixing a problem with my Valiant I.
The plate ammeter would nearly peg then drop to normal everytime I turned the plate supply on to transmit. Also, the 1.5 amp fuse for the HV relay would blow at random. The transmitter uses 1N2637 solid state plug in rectifiers as a replacement for the 866A's.
One gentleman floated the possibility that there was a voltage feedback loop from the diodes to the unused but still connected filament winding.
He is absolutely correct. I disconnected the two wires to the filamant winding and ran the radio all afternoon today. The current blip disappeared and the fuse I started with this morning never blew.
There's just no substitute for experience. Thanks OM!
