[Boatanchors] Partially Off Topic Questionþ

Wow, talk about a tank! Too bad you cant remote an ART-13 in the trunk. I had a TBS50-D in a 49 Ford and then jumped to SSB with a NCX-3 and NCX-5 loaners courtesy of National starting in 1963. First in a 57 Chevy ragtop and then a 64 GTO ragtop. Havent been mobile since 1969.

I really should use either the AF-54 or AF-67 I have here someday. I already have a Halli SR-150 DC supply. Then pick up a Gonset converter or something else compact

The closest I came to that body style was a 49 Merc with the same 4dr configuration.

The heaviest car I ever owned was a 58 Lincoln ragtop with the 430 engine. I believe it was 5800#.

A 72 Olds 98 Custom Cruiser wagon with the 455 was a close second.

That's some handy info! Never realized it was that simple, Carl. Good to know. Hoping to have the '50 Lincoln ready for Deerfield/NEAR-Fest this fall, complete with its original 337 flathead V8. The replacement radiator was the hold up, all brass and copper, close to $1500 when all was said and done. Just need to find the appropriate boatanchor mobile set up for it now. Plenty of room in the trunk for a dynamotor, Jimmy Hoffa, and whatever else.

We can cruise to the AM dinner in it. Just remember, the back doors open funny. :D

Converting to negative ground is very simple. Reverse the ampmeter leads,
coil wires, and battery terminals. Repolarize the generator by lifting the
field lead off the regulator and momentarily touching to the battery
terminal next to it. The engine must be off.

The above works with all 46-53 Fords that are standard with internally
grounded regulators. Im not sure about earlier ones. Other makes sometimes
use externally grounded generators and the repolarization procedure is
    slightly different.
