Dick,

Not as weird as you may think!

Same time-frame, Televideo 8XX series terminals used an AC Polarized 
capacitor.  They were priced ridiculously high for the mid '80s.  I used 
to work on the "Telejunk" part-time.  (I "just" KNOW that someone WILL 
have a fit over this.  IF you "haven't" worked on these in that 
time-frame, just relax!)

Don't give up!  You'll find it!
