I already have a TS-497B so am not interested. In fact, a number of years ago I bought like 15 of these signal generators and was able to get 10 of them working, then sold them to various amateur radio operators.
The TS-497 series is the military equivalent of the Measurements Model 80 signal generator and are more ruggedly built. They cover 2 MHz to 400 MHz in 6 ranges, are well shielded, and have an accurately calibrated attenuator (piston type) that goes below 0.1 microvolts output. The oscillator tube is the acorn 955. After about 30 minutes warm up the frequency is pretty stable but the dial accuracy is not that good.
You definitely need a 6 dB attenuator on the output to match to 50 ohms.
Although I have several service monitors the TS-497B sits on my workbench as it is very "handy" to have a fast tuning generator available.
