[Boatanchors] Tube Socket Extenders Needed

Why don't you make one?

Since you are working on a SX-28 I assume you need an octal socket extender.

Use an old octal tube base, a new(or used) octal socket, and a short piece
of wood doweling.

Install the leads in the octal tube base. Then partly fill the tube base
with some epoxy glue. The insert the wood dowel spacer in the canter of the
tube base and hold it in position until the glue dries.

Then temporally mount the octal socket to the other end of the wood dowel
spacer with a wood screw. Then connect the leads from the octal tube base to
the proper pins on the octal tube socket.

You may want to use some epoxy glue to hold the dowel to the octal socket
but you have to be careful not to let it go into either the index hole or
the socket pins. This can be done by using a polyurethane varnish around the
pins and index hole to seal them before applying the epoxy.
