I've always been told that the type of glue won't have any negative effect 
on the performance.  I think I'd use epoxy,  not the newer "Gorilla" or 
"Sumo", glues and such.  This is simply because they expaned as they set.

And, I'm sure JB Weld would be fine as Nat noted.
