If you have shielded cable, use it, checking whether connecting the 
ground (shield) should be at
both ends, or one end or the other, leaving it at the configuration 
which gives the lowest hum
pickup, if any.

Remember, in the old days, when the broadcasters used telco circuits, 
for studio to transmitter
audio feeds or for that matter remote broadcast feeds or network audio 
feeds via the telco circuits,
those telco circuit may or may not have been shielded, and if shielded, 
probably only the main
cable had a shield and all the twisted pairs in the cable were not 
individually shielded.
