[Boatanchors] amp internal shielding

My Tempo 2001 didn't have any such shielding and there was a lot of r.f. getting into the AC power line. Finally got rid of it with a lot more bypassing as well as a toroid on the power cord (right at the amplifier).

Part of this kind of problem lies in whether or not the power transformer is encased in metal. When there is a shield on the power supply there is considerably less chance of having problems. My Tempo 2001 has an open frame power transformer.

most Grounded Grid rf amps dont have shielding between the PA coil and the power transformers.

why would they need it ?

whole xfmr core is like a giant choke anyway.

distance is the deal...and some pretty nice amps have been made with precious little of that ( Ken TL-922 , Collins 30-L1 etc )
