Yes, you want to avoid arcing at the function switch from operating it
too frequently and switching an inductive load. The function switch is
irreplaceable, so you don't want to burn it out.
I developed a PTT mod that uses an internal relay that helps to save the
function switch. No drilling is required and the mod is reversible. I
will e-mail it to you, if you like.
