Man's name for Joe P. Morris, from Cleveland, OH. He started issuing WR0
callsigns for short wave listeners in the mid 50's. Had nothing to do
with the Popular Electronics WPE program that started in 1959 except by
understanding was that Morris couldn't keep up with the demand or
interest. Kneitel, from Popular Electronics, approached his editor,
Oliver Read, to start their own program call WPE (PE of course for
Popular Electronics). Bennett didn't take it over until after Kneitel
left Popular Electronics in 1961.
