Hi Dave,

TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS for mailing a radio...?! That's incredible...

But tell me something first: did you actually confirm that it did, really &
truly, cost an honest-to-goodness two hundred bucks by taking a look at the
dollar price that's automatically printed by the Canadian post office on the
postage "meter" stamp they affix onto the RH top corner of the parcel...?
(They do this at the time that the parcel is first given to them for
processing.)

Or were you (possibly) the victim of the proverbial "...shipping plus
HANDLING" scam that prevails upon both sides of the border...?

Case in point: I recently mailed FOUR HC-6/U crystals to a Ham in the States
for the princely sum of $1.35 in postage --- by comparison, an American
fellow on eBay quoted the mailing price to me of a SINGLE HC-6/U crystal as
being $19.90...! When I protested, he "corrected" himself --- just $9.90,
sorry!

Yeah, right...it's guys like that who give cross-border radio sales such a
bad name.
