[Boatanchors] Winding coils

Quite right! All the piston slappers are gone from the Navy. Some may
be fighting fires in California and some warbird collectors probably
have a couple on the airshow circuit. There was a US-2B (a Stoof, S-2F
converted to COD use) down in the Norfolk area, but it came to grief in
a landing accident and was destroyed.
BTW the upgraded C-2, called NP-2000, has the same Rolls Royce (Allison)
T-56s with new 8 blade props. They should be hitting the fleet soon as
we are finishing up the testing here at Pax soon. They still call them
"hummers", but it sounds more like a mosquito on steroids!

The modern COD is a C-2 Greyhound which has two 5000 Horsepower
turboprops
(looks like an E-2 with no dome and a fatter fuselage). I think most if
not
all of the C-1s with radial engines have been retired.
