Si!
Orono is about 2 hours north of Portland, and that's with your foot
out there tickling the carb (F.I. these days). A bit over 5 hours from
me here in Verminmont. Was a fun drive though, got to drop off the
fractured mod iron for re-testing, see Gary's transformer shop set up
and extensive stock of parts and tubes, visit Larry NE1S's fine radio
station, and haul back home a nice ATC transmitter & dynamotor.
Certainly worth the drive, for any one of the above.
Even at 75-80 mph on the long, open stretches, I had some loaded
lumber wagons blow by me like I was parked. God pity the moose who
steps out in front of them!
