Some of you may enjoy taking a look at my recent effort to replicate and 
improve on the K7NS zinc negative resistance oscillator.  I've added 
"crystal control" and "high level modulation" ;-) - with oscillation as 
high as 3.58 mhz:

Note:  while it *does* work, be prepared to spend LOTS of time patiently 
probing the surface to locate a spot that exhibits a negative resistance 
characteristic. There is obviously room for improvement, such as a 
proper cat-whisker and more efficient antenna coupling.   Think of it as 
a way of reliving the early days of radio! 

And of course we're talking very low power, but with an antenna, I was 
able to hear the BC band signal around the house.  Just remember -  it's 
made out of junk!
