Hi, my two cents on the Bath Tub Cap discussion.
I would never put an open flame on any cap can containing PCB oil.
Burning PCB oil is a very hazardous condition to be up against.
Dispose of the cap(s) in a manner that is proper for your area.
Your health and hide is worth more than the price of new
caps and this comes from a cheap skate ham.
I worked for 40 years as a Sub Station Operator around old gear
that contained PCB oils and during the transition period
when everything was changed over to non-PCB oils.
In later years when handling this type of oil we always wore
Teflon suits, gloves, boots.
In my earlier years I took un-wanted baths in the stuff, I was
lucky, no fires were involved with these soakings, just the bad
transformer oil smell and 20 over nine QRM from my mouth.
It is nasty stuff, but again the worse condition was
being around it when it was burning, we always kept up-wind from
burning or smoldering gear until I got the equipment de-energized.
