I use a large soldering iron with a large, heavy tip as used in making
leaded glass.  Just a few moments going around the soldered edge usually
does the trick.  I've heard of guys using torches, but I haven't tried that
method.  Most of the ones I've opened have been almost dry, so there is
little concern about any kind of oil.

...How to recap bathtub capacitors?

I am ready with recapping of my SP-600 but the bathtub capacitors.
Some of them leaks but it is perhaps a good idea to recap them all.

Should be glad to get some tips how to open those cans.
I know there is a possibility for PCB-oil in them so had to be careful.
