Hi all.

I am playing with a hickok 800A tester and I had a question for those of
you with experience with this model (also the question applies to the
600A as well).

On the English dial, there are three dots which according to the manuals
indicates which micromho scale to use (0-3000 uMhos, 0-6,000 uMhos and
0-15,000 uMhos). But here's what I don't get. With three dots, the dial
is divided into 4 sections! 0-73, 73-86, 86-92 and 92-100. So when the
roll chart tells me to put English on 93, I would assume to use the
0-15,000 uMho. Using this logic, for an English setting of 80, I would
assume to use 0-3000. But then what of a setting of 50?

I am sure this is an easy explanation, but the manuals are so terse
about this, I couldn't figure it out.

Thanks
Eugene
P.S. I have a new postulate. "The Hertz Postulate" "A man with one tube
tester knows if his tubes are good or not. A man with two tube testers
is never quite sure."
