[Boatanchors] Stripped Screws - Ignore Alien Orders !

A fourth one is Reed & Prince.  Craftsman screwdriver sets used to come with 
two of them but in recent years they haven't.

The solution to making Phillips screw drivers and screws last longer (at 
least if  the screw thread matches the thread in the hole) is to take new drivers 
to a bench grinder and take from about 0.010" to 0.030"  off of the tip (from 
#0 to #4).  The reason is that screw heads in commercial/consumer gear since 
the 70's are mostly cheap imports and are too shallow in the center.  The 
screwdriver bottoms out on the tip instead of the four splines.  Combined with 
low-grade steel used in the screws, you pretty quickly ruin the tip.
