I know of a number of users of guitar amps who use the Chinese 6L6's.
Occasionally they have trouble, but then contemporary guitar amps are
notorious for running excessive B+.
FWIW, I tried an original metal 6L6, 6L6G, 6L6GB, 6L6GC (all U.S. made)
and also a Sovtek 6L6GC (Russian) in both the oscillator and multiplier
stages of a Hallicrafters HT-9. All gave identical ample grid drive to
the final.
So, the answer is a definite maybe, with influence by the application.
