When I installed the kit in my HX-50A there was a
problem in that I could not get much over 3 watts
output. Finally I added a 47 pf capacitor between the
two inductively coupled coils on one of the sets of
coils involved. Frankly, I do not absolutely remember
which of those coils was involved. However, somewhere
in the back of my mind I am thinking that it was the
driver. When I added the capacitor the output
immediately went to 80 watts (which is full power) and
the other bands were not affected by this addition.
Now I did have the original 160 meter conversion kit
that I was lucky to obtain from another amateur radio
operator. That is where the information that is on
BAMA came from. Now this was over 5 years ago.
