GM Meir and the group...............

Won't argue the status of the RS-6 as part of the bailout gear on the
B-47's.

However, one might refer to the Spy Books written by H. Keith Melton.

CIA Special Weapons & Equipment, ISBN 0-8069-8732-4 (c.1993) Page 47.
 Describes RS-6 and has pictures.

The Ultimate Spy Book, ISBN 0-7894-0443-5 (c.1996) Page 115 shows a
"suitcase" radio that is clearly customized and utilizes the RS-6
receiver and transmitter as the heart of the set.

Of course this doesn't make anything about the CIA and it's equipment
"official".............with good cause.

If spy sets, equipment and a bit of history is your
thing.............you might locate these books for some interesting
reading and the detailed pictures. He published another book OSS
Special Weapons & Equipment [Spy Devices of WWII] ISBN 0-8069-8238-1
that has the SSTR and PRC sets of that era described.

I've used my RS-6 and the AN/GRC-19 but it's been a while. If I could
crystal up the DELCO 5300 at a reasonable cost, I might give it a shot
too. Never tried the code-burst keyer lashup.................pretty
speedy CW. Hi Hi

I don't know how the "Spy radio" myth was created around the RS-6...

It was part of the crew bail-out gear on bombers.

I guess by the same token the "Gibson Girl" can be also called Spy
radio!
