A "conventional" air source contains moisture as a byproduct of the 
compressing. I use a shop compressor with an oil/water seperator at the tank 
and a smaller inline one at the input to the HVLP spray gun. Nothing like 
water droplets on a paint job to ruin your day.

Another option is to use a CO2 can as the air source which is moisture free. 
A 20oz can for a paint ball gun can be adapted to a small spray gun and they 
are refillable.

For small touch up jobs I use an airbrush and smaller 9 oz CO2 can. There 
are also the Preval setups to consider.
