[Boatanchors] Questions about re-doing panels for DX-35/40

I understand from several sources that to silkscreen a panel you must first
paint the entire panel with the "base" color ~ in is case, the lighter
("silver") color.

So, this begs the question: Has anyone successfully matched the lighter,
silver color? If so, what brand of paint and what is the formula?

Also, several people had indicated a interest in re-soing their panels if I
could find a source for the silkscreening.

One person I contacted said that doing one panel would be expensive ~ $70 or
so and the more he does at one time would lower the price for each panel.

I would like to find out how many of you guys would be interested in
re-doing a DX-35 panel and then, later on, the DX-40?

Please let me know soon as I would like to get the ball rolling on this
project!
