[Boatanchors] Do I Remember??

I don't remember how old I was at the time or the year of course. My
first memory of radio having gotten to me was standing in from of that
big Zenith console (Taller than me) and hearing Les Paul and Mary Ford.
Years later in April of 58 I was thirteen at the time a friend took me
to visit a "ham" friend. We walked into the bedroom of K0GSV who was
a few years older. Rich had a homebrew transmitter of the 6146 output
and 6L6 modulators variety. I don't remember the receiver but it must
have been a Hammarlund. We heard this loud signal from Australia calling
CQ on 10 meter AM. Rich turned to us and said "one call, watch this"
One call was it and the end of my days of possibly being a normal human
being. I was a ham. In April of 59 Rich gave me the Novice test at his
house. His dad Steve (Pete) K0UCG (SK) had to watch and sign as Rich was
under age. Long ago and far away, back in the days of yore.
