[Boatanchors] international shipping

I used BAX Global (www.baxglobal.com ) to ship radios overseas and to the US
from abroad. Their rates are very reasonable, you can save money if instead
of door to door service the sender drops off the package at their depot
(they have an office near every major airport in the world and in the US)
and the recipient picks it up at their office. You need a correct shipping
manifest, stating the item description - with country of manufacture, etc.
and value (for example: "used 1950's vintage radio; manufactured in the USA,
value: US$100).
I don't know about customs (delays?) inAustralia, but when I receive
something here, I pick up the manifest from BAX, take it over to the US
Customs office, make an appointment for them to go and inspect the stuff and
then pick up the release from them and with that pick up the package at the
BAX warehouse. This saves me around 50 bucks or maybe more in "brokerage
fee" I'd have to pay the shipping company to run the paperwork over to
Customs...

Subject: [Boatanchors] international shipping
Greetings....
Can anybody offer any suggestions re: shipping a package from the US to
Australia? It's an old receiver, but not truly a BA. Package will probably
weigh 6-8 lbs. Best vendor? Suggestions re: shipping internationally?
Anything to be done to avoid Customs delays, etc?
Thanks.
73,
Randy
