Thank you all very much for the help.

I did get the matching transformer wired in this evening, and the SX-73 
playing well into a Tannoy Cheviot speaker.

While it does not sound quite as good (fidelity-wise) as the SX-62 it 
replaced in that position, it certainly sounds "good enough", especially 
considering the 2 watts output.

I was again impressed with the SX-73s sensitivity.  Cruising around the AM 
broadcast band, well before dark, I got great copy on stations in Salt Lake, 
Spokane, Seattle and San Francisco.  Easy picking in the later hours, but 
this was two hours before sunset.

Again, thanks for the help.  Seems as if I need a lot of that recently.
