I cut everything to length then lightly tin the braid. If necessary I
use a flat file to level off burrs if any. If done with light tinning
on the braid then the connector will screw onto the outer insulation.
Using an 125 watt soldering iron the solder will flow quite easily into
the hole. This is all predicated on using good connectors and not the
chrome plated ones.
