Hi kids,

Just to flog the horse a bit more.... is it dead yet? What it all boils
down to is honesty. I have no problem with the carpetbagger showing up
and offering $1.00 for the whole lot if the widow knows that there is
value there but just wants the stuff gone now! Heck my wife wants that
now and I'm not dead... yet I've been involved with some small
cleanouts. In some cases the estate needs the money and is willing to
wait and have it sorted out slowly by friends who are willing to help her.
What the ethical carpetbagger should do is to explain why the offer is
what it is and let her know what other options may be available to her. Me
thinks that too often rather than taking time to do this, she is often
told it's not worth much and it is left at that. Imagine, her position,
the OM has been telling her for years that the stuff is worth a fortune
probably to justify keeping it, or has been telling the kids, some day
this will all be yours... Rolling up my bag errrraaahhh raincoat for
Nearfest, I remain....
