Looks like the 160 AM frequencies break down like this.

1. 1885  Most all respondents East Coast

2  1915  Mid West respondents

3. 1925  Mid West and West Coast

4. 1945  Mid West respondents

5. 1975  South West respondents

6. 1980  Upper Mid West respondents

In view the spread of frequencies and the fact these big broadcast 
transmitters use a simple Hartley oscillator I think I'll scrounge up an old 
Heathkit, Eico or WRL VFO, solid state it for stability plug it into one of 
the crystal sockets and give myself freedom to QSY when the band is open.
