Without taking my SLR-12-B apart, I don't think 1/4". Probably 3/16". My
radio has a piece of plastic rather than glass. The parts list calls for a
Lucite plate. Good luck. A fine radio. Not intended to be a communications
receiver. However it does what it was intended to do very well.

These radios were intended to be a source of news and entertainment for the
crew of a ship, and do so without emitting any RF radiation for German
U-Boats to pick up with their direction finding equipment. Consequently, the
designers were very sparse with ventilation louvres. I run my SLR-12-B with the
chassis slid out of the cabinet a few inches to get some air flow.
