[Boatanchors] EV 638 question

Ray,

That element, the dynamic one, looks to me like a specialized one that 
EV might have made themselves.  I predict you will not find a 
replacement short of buying another used one and swapping elements.  You 
certainly won't find one at a parts place such as Mouser (excellent 
though they are).

A better way to go is to first try opening it up and cleaning it out.  I 
did that with mine and it works great now, after becoming fairly muffled 
sounding over the years.  Remove the name plate in the back, unscrew the 
screw inside and remove the head.  Then you need a pair of snap-ring 
pliers to take out the element.  Then you just clean everything.  Even 
the front screen is removable at that point.

If that fails, just replace it with a Heil element or whatever you please.
