Correction! Apparently I wrote the previous description before being fully
awake. The HFS has 6.3 volt tubes and the 5880 is an earlier 2.5 volt supply.
Type 5886 was the power supply for the HFS VHF receiver. 5886 is for
equipment with 6.3 volt filaments and if I am not mistaken again it should provide
180 volts B+. 5886 was also available in two versions: an early 5886 for
models SW-3 and 1-10 which was supplied with a black wrinkle finished cabinet and
a later 5886 for model HFS which came with a matching metallic gray cabinet.
Type 697 was a 6.3 volt filament supply which provided higher B+ for later
HRO receivers with 6.3 volt tubes. Model 697 was also available in a couple of
variants having different cabinet colors: black for early black HRO's and
metallic gray for HRO-7. Sorry about the earlier misinformation!

Regards, Greg
