Change the 0A2 to an 0B2.  This drops the screen
voltage to 108 volts and definitely helps stabilize
the VFO.  Also change the 6AU6 VFO tube to a 6AH6
(direct replacement).  This also helps considerably. 
Both changes do not require any rewiring.
