I've amassed several pieces of test equipment over the past couple
of decades made by the "Precise Development Corp, Oceanside, NY USA".
Things like emissions testers, regulated HV supplies, signal
generators, signal tracers, etc.
I'm not sure if this is the same or a different company than the
"Precision Apparatus Company, Inc., Elmhurst, LI, NY" (I've got
some stuff made by them too!)
For the most part there's nothing spectacular about any of these
instruments: circuits seem very similar to corresponding Heathkits/Eicos/
Knight-Kits of the era, etc. I can't say I need a schematic or anything
because the stuff is so basic and I've been tinkering with the guts of
such instruments since I was in diapers. In fact the stuff, while
pretty basic, seems pretty well-built for my occasional use and only
rarely do I have to tinker with the insides. I'm sure somebody
who likes everything to 8 significant digits would tell me they're
not calibrated, but for what they're built for they work fine.
But would anyone be able to point me to the history of the company,
maybe? If I google the company name, I turn up some E-bay auctions
with the instruments, but nothing about the company or its products.
I'm guessing that it was around from the 50's through maybe the early
60's.
Tim.
