I just got back from the Post Office to mail a 35 pound 7 oz radio the United Kingdom for $138.30. The online PayPal system wouldn't print the label so I need to get a refund there (in 2 weeks). The USPS lady said there had been a mad rush last week by international students at the University of Texas to mail their stuff back home (which they do every year) before the deadline. One graduate sent 25-30 boxes at a cost of $1100 ...... AT THE LOWER SURFACE RATE. I'm surprised CNN hasn't picked up on this yet, guess there are far more people interested in $4.00 gas.
I still think it's great that we CAN mail stuff and be relatively assured that it will get there. I'd hate to personally have to deliver it.
