Lots of subtle changes went into effect today that
will affect our hobby. The elimination of
international surface parcel post basically kills the
movement of boatanchors across the pond. Regular
Parcel Post is now based on size as well as
weight--they now measure all the boxes at the counter.
Example: A box that we would consider "small" (say
20x15x15) now has a $2.90 oversize surcharge added to
it.

The upper end of the Bound Printed Matter rate dropped
to 15 pounds. BPM is magazines. Magazines are not
eligible for media mail. So if you ship a bunch of
magazines over 15 pounds, you end up with the parcel
post rate which is quite a bit higher. Global Priority
mail weight limits changed too, not for the better.

It all adds up.
