I have a Johnson Matchbox 250-23-3 and I am looking for advice on how to set the knobs for the "tuning" and "matching" dials. I set the "tuning" capacitor all even with the base of it and used that as a 100 on the reference marks on the dial. I did this assuming that all the plates being meshed gives the most contact.
The "matching" capacitor has two separate sets of plates on the mounted base and only half on the shaft itself. To place all the fins even would have them completely meshed either with the top plates or bottom plates producing capacitance. Which set of plates ( upper or lower) makes the 100 reference on the "matching" knob and if either one does - do I set the zero reference by setting the shaft to the side of the mounted plates.
I explained as best I can and any help is appreciated.
