Hi Joe-
wish I had one of those- an old BC-779 was my first serious radio.  I  recall 
replacing a lot of shorted caps, even 40 years ago!
Assuming you've really got the right plate, screen and grid voltages,  
there's not a lot else that can go wrong. If all is OK out of the first RF,  then it 
must be something in the input.  Aside from the tuned circuits,  there's just 
the grid decoupling resistor and a coupling capacitor.  First,  I would check 
on all bands to see if just one band is low.  That will  narrow it down to a 
tuned circuit (if it's a problem on one band) or the  coupling cap if it's on 
all bands.  I suppose it could be a bandswitch  problem, but not likely.  
Which cap did you change?
